Richard is an Operations Partner at Oryx. He works with the Oryx team in investment selection and execution, while also supporting the oversight and management of Oryx’s portfolio companies.

Richard is a veteran resources investor with over 30 years’ experience, recently as Head of Commodities at Qatar Investment Authority, where he set-up and lead the Commodities Department and ran one of the world’s largest commodity equity portfolios. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at BlackRock where he ran the BlackRock Commodities Income investment trust. Richard began his career as a geologist.  

Richard holds a Master of Science (Mineral Exploration) from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, and a Bachelor of Arts (Natural Sciences, Geology) from Trinity College. He is also a holder of the Investment Management Certificate.
