Laura Tyler

Laura is a Partner at Oryx. She is a member of the Investment Committee and is responsible for leading the technical & operational evaluation of investments and operational oversight of portfolio companies.
Laura is a mining industry veteran with an extensive amount of senior leadership experience over her career spanning more than 35 years. Prior to Oryx, she held numerous senior leadership roles at BHP, the world’s largest mining company, including Chief Technical Officer (a role focused on value growth and operational excellence, with responsibility for a global team of 5000 people, covering metals exploration, resource, maintenance & engineering, projects, value engineering, innovation, and technology), member of BHP Investment Review Committee, Lead Executive for the Board Sustainability Committee, Chief Geoscientist, and Asset President for Olympic Dam and Cannington mines. She is also CEO of Adriatic Metals and previously held various engineering, planning, geotech and geology positions at companies such as Western Mining Corporation, Newcrest Mining, Mt Isa Mines, L.G. Mouchel and Partners and the British Geological Survey and Ground Explorations.
Laura is a highly decorated mining professional, having received numerous awards in recognition of her eminent leadership in the resources sector, including the Institute Medal from AusIMM (the most prestigious Award and highest honour conferred by AusIMM), being named the inaugural Australian Exceptional Woman in Resources by MCA, and being twice named in the top 100 Women in Mining by WIMUK.
Laura holds a Master of Science (Mining Engineering) from the Camborne School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from Cardiff University. She is also a Fellow AusIMM Chartered Professional.
